Is Divorce Bad for Children? – Scientific American

Kids whose parents fight a lot before separation recover after separation and are better off away from the conflict. Kids whose parents have a high conflict divorce take a lot longer to adjust.  Otherwise, kids who experience a separation that is low conflict recover well after the initial impact.
